ok bongzilla is a heavy metal act known as stoner metal with 10 minute songs just like every other prog band. shouldnt that be in the prog archives...i mean how many of these bands used drugs to make their music. we should add bongzilla to the site

myself i'm also pressing for oasis to be added here, well they had an epic on their third album, they had mellotrons, plenty keyboard parts and had songs with orchestral arrangements, not sure about the drugs, but booze (in industrial proportions) can get pretty psychedelic inn'it? but i must agree they didn't have such a progressive name like bongzilla

it's not actually prog though, is it?
I mean, Sleep have two distinguishable versions of an hour long song and Ocean Chief are seemingly unable to write a song that lasts LESS than eight minutes, but all they do is groove, man, and groove well. if we went primarily by song length then gentle giant, art bears, opus avantra and a million others would be overlooked...
on second thoughts I'm sure it was a joke post ;)

Well, many non prog bands do 10 minute songs too and even longer. Sleep made an hour long song and I don't think they're prog at all.

If that's a question I would say a lot, but just because they do drugs doesn't mean they should be in here Having said that, we (the psych team) don't discriminate stoner metal additions so we'll evaluate them like any other band recommended.

I like Bongzilla, but just long songs doesn't qualify as progressive. Most of the time it just seems like they smoked so much they forgot to end the song.

There is a difference between good and Prog. Prog is a style, with many
good bands, but there are also many good bands who don't play music in
the style of Prog.
