Even when King Crimson ITCOTKC era, Genesis Gabriel era, Caravan and Gentle Giant sounds great, my choice is Soft Machine:

Kevin Ayers / bass, vocals
Brian Hopper/ sax
Hugh Hopper / bass
Mike Ratledge / keyboards
Robert Wyatt / drums

It will be a delight for any ear...

Why GONG Radio Gnome era is not included??? That it will be great too...

Gentle Giant.

I would love to see them play live even though I wouldn't class myself as a big fan.It would just be so much fun watching them!

Floyd would be cool, but not as cool as Gabriel-led Genesis. Of course, I voted for Emerson Lake 'n Palmer, just because they needed the help. And that would be pretty sweet.

I voted for ELP - not necessarily wanting them to reform permanently, but to at least get together and produce one more album.

Not an album along the lines of their later, more commercial-sounding efforts, though. I would like to see ELP produce an instrumental concept album based on a very specific theme, for example a novel full of pathos such as Silas Marner, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, The Yearling, etc. I would like to see the three really study the chosen book and write emotive, progressive music tied closely to the story, making sure they keep away from commercial-sounding pop-rock or attempts to emulate (or imitate, for that matter) classical music.

I would also like to see them produce joint compositions, not individual compositions. OK, each one might come up with a basic theme, but I'd like to see a joint effort on honing each track -- if indeed the album were to be split into tracks, as I think it could be seemless, with the different 'chapters' segueing into each other.

I reckon that they could come up with something interesting.

Your post is soooo suggestive and I caught myself at the moments wondering when that masterpiece will see the light of the day! Sigh...

You dissapointed us all, Whistler.

I expected that you will suggest reunion of Tull with:

1) Ian,
2) his hair & beard,
3) old tramp's boots & dirty cloak,
4) old lineup.

Well, if you don't, I will. Wink

From  this list I'd vote for Genesis.

But my greatest wish of all time must be seeing Ark getting back together in. Too bad it propably won't ever happen Confused
