Supper's Ready is my favorite all time song.  Funny, the vote is going just about how I would rank them, except I like Hogweed more than Musical Box.

Dancing... the song that got me into Genesis. However, the poll is missing Harrold, Epping, Fly on the Windshield and Anyway to name a few.

I think Harlequin has the most beautiful melody

but I voted for Watcher of the Skies, my first Genesis song. How it blew me away, I can't even describe

Be sure to stop by tomorrow to find out what will then be my favourite Genesis song.

Interesting idea...

Today I voted for Blood on the Rooftops. Hackett's contributions tend to get overlooked, and this little gem features some splendid acoustic guitar, some of the most insightful and well crafted lyrics in the whole Genesis canon and an excellent, understated vocal from Phil Collins.

I'll check in again tomorrow, see if I still feel the same.

Today it's Dancing With The Moonlight Knight, which seems to be stuck in my head although I haven't actually listened to it for a while.
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Robert Wyatt, Gloria Gloom

Other..

'One for the Vine'

Thats my choice today, although last night 'Burning Rope' and the Seconds Out version of 'Firth of Fifth' were sounding rather astounding...

Genesis have far too many excellent songs, and I just keep rediscovering how excellent they are!

Stagnation is a very underrated song with beautiful moments. I especially like it at 3:00 or something when the music speeds up. Fantastc!

After much deliberation, my vote goes for The Cinema Show.  As for the constant negativity towards Illegal Alien: 1. I actually liked that song when it came out, and I still like it now.  I have mentioned in other forum topics, I was aware of and liked Phil Collins' era Genesis way before I was aware of Peter Gabriel era Genesis which was way before my prog time.  Therefore, somewhat ironically I am fond of their newer stuff for its "historical" attachment, whereas, the older stuff is still relatively new to me.  I suppose that it just hasn't been drilled in to my head as much as the catchier pop prog songs of the post-Gabriel years.

2. For those that say it isn't progressive, it is a song that is way ahead of its time.  With the current increased U.S. political debates, these days, it is definitely "no fun, being an illegal alien".

I tried, but I couldn't see any way to avoid voting for Supper's Ready.   It's just that good.

The most UNDERRATED Genesis song is probably Keep It Dark off ABACAB.

Musical Box, for me...
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
