Just found this news on a Polish news website. And here's the note from his official website:

Here is the latest update from Wendy Dio:

"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.

Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.

Long Live Rock and Roll, Long Live Ronnie James Dio"

"Music is much like f**king, but some composers can't climax and others climax too often, leaving themselves and the listener jaded and spent."

That's sad news.  I hope that he has a quick and full recovery.  Ironically, with my listening to my albums alphabetically I am just about to start a Dio marathon. Smile

I hope everything will end up well - since it's an early stage of disease development.

Keeping my fingers crossed for one of my favourite hard rock singers!

I'd be more saddened if he weren't already immortal.

Such a shame, his Sheffield gig was cancelled and I was wondering why - I lost the chance to see the master

I hope he returns in good form

Ronnie James Dio WILL have a quick, full and powerful recovery! HE IS IMMORTAL!!!

I mean, come on, he survived to Ritchie Blackmore, the "Live Evil" sound ingeneer infamy and the '92 Black Sabbath/Ozzy scandal: what can bring him down?

The recovery is hoped for.

He always invites the listener to the crucible of the excitement.

Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

( I think this sits well in the News section, given his involvement in bands listed on our site)

Very sad news. Was supposed to see him live in December.

The fact that it was discovered in an early stage makes it hopeful though - and I'll be waiting on the other side of the recovery for another chance to see the Grandpa of Metal in full glory.

I'd like to join in with everybody who has posted here so far.

Hopefully, as this has been diagnosed early he will make a full and speedy recovery.

I've been revisiting RJD's stints with Rainbow & Sabbath recently...

...here's wishing a speedy recovery to one of the finest singers in the business.

Get well soon Mr Dio. You are a rock legend. I've been feasting on early Rainbow this year, and Dio Sabbath. Great singer.

I'll not forget him playing at Donnington in '87. Dio stole the show that day imo.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Sad news indeed, but glad they caught it at the early stages, so there's still hope.  Probably my favorite hard rock vocalist.   Hope he makes a full recovery and can grace us with more of his music.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
