Yep, we all know Tangerine Dream is a fantastic live band, and their live efforts differ quite a bit from their studio albums. But which of these do you consider their best live album?

Ricochet is my obvious answer but Encore was excellent also.

The particularity of Tangerine Dream live albums is that it is brand new material not available on other studio record. They never did studio tracks in concert I gather.

Logos is fine album too. Have not heard the rest . Acxtually I heard thief once few months back but it did nothing for me.

They have been releasing a whole bunch of concert bootlegs that were "commercialized" by "fans". They are not present on your list (I have had no time to discover those either) but under the Owner/Author's versions , it is OK to buy them.

Despite that it was released in the 80s, I consider logos as their best, near to thief with massive deeply spacey electronic parts...Ricochet is not bad at all, but there's too many sequencers and arpegiattos for me, it tends to be boring...however the introduction of the album is fantastic, with its sinister, intense synth part...the beginning of the second piece also contains a nice dreamy piano's line.

Haven't heard Poland and Ricochet was the best of the ones I have heard but what about Tournado? Are you polling the early years releases I wonder!

Voted for Richochet. I haven't discovered Logos though, and it seem to be a good album.

Poland is my favourite, a much overlooked gem and the last really great TD album IMO. As good as Ricochet, Encore and Logos are, they're pretty much on a par with the studio albums that were released at about the same time. Poland was the Franke/Froese/Scmoelling line up exceeding their studio work and was a real and unexpected treat for old school TD fans.

I've never heard of Tournado.
I don't know any albums after the Schmoelling-era , except Seven Letters From Tibet which I like a lot.

If you can get your hands on the bootleg version of Encore or Logo's you'll hear them in full with no overdubs. They stand amazing amongst most live albums.

Ricochet was my choice but I also think Tournado is a good one, although this album is a live compilation of existing music.

Ricochet is great...loved it when I first heard it at 17 y.o.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Ricochet is the best album from Tangerine Dream,so it's logically the best live album...

But all the other Virgin Years live albums (Encore,Pergamon,Logos,Poland) are all stunning...Masterpiece...

Poland, closely followed by Encore, Ricochet and Pergamon. All great albums.
