Topic: Talking Heads: Prog-related Posted: April 28 2010 at 10:11 |
I was a little surprised to see that Talking Heads are not included on this site at all. I know that much of what they did does not qualify cleanly as prog-rock, but it seems peculiar to me that a site like this would not contain any reviews of Remain in Light. If The Beatles can get in on the strength of Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road, surely Talking Heads can get in with Remain in Light.

They have been discussed numerous times for inclusion, but at this point it has been determined not to include them. Howevrer, I am not sure if they were ever proposed to the administration team for prog related.

Both Talking Heads and David Byrne (sp?) solo are currently under consideration by the Crossover team. It will probably be a while though until a decision is reached, as they were just added to the list the other day.

There's no connection between The Beatles and Talking Heads. The Beatles are proto-prog for their part in prog history, not prog-related. I don't see even Remain In Light as particularly prog-related.

Alright, fair enough. As long as it's been considered.

My full support (for what it's worth) ! Fear of music is also a great album.

they're in prog-related now, so I guess it's time to bump this thread in case people are looking for it?
by the way, Radiohead are in "crossover prog", so Talking Heads being in prog-related isn't that surprising.
