DT is my favorite band, and my favorite songs change all the time (a "change" of seasons lol). Here is my recent favorite

1. In The Name Of God
2. Octavarium
3. Home

Why many people like that one? I think it's one of the worst songs of DT. I mean, it feels like they didn't have direction to what they want, they even tried some electronic vibe here and there and it's awful... The choruse and the whole concept it's a little inconsistent for me.

The other two, in the other hand are so great, my only complain are the last part of Home. I feel it so unnecesary, but it doesn't mean is bad, just, unnecesary...

Just sayin...
Change the program inside... Stay in silence is a crime.

Yeah anyone who lists anything after Falling Into Infinity is basically wrong (and I feel slightly uncomfortable drawing the arbitrary line there, I mostly do so because of the b-sides). Count of Tuscany? Really? That shouldn't be top 10 anything.

Anyway:

Pull Me Under
Another Day
Take The Time
Surrounded
Metropolis Part 1
Under A Glass Moon
Wait For Sleep
Learning To Live
Space Dye vest
Speak to Me

Honorable mention to Lines in the Sand for being the best Jimmy Hart version of King's X to feature a King's X member.

I think a nightmare to remember deserves a place in their best tunes

Well lets see...not necessarily my favorites (I like the entire discography) but some that I don't think have been mentioned yet:
The Dark Eternal Night
In The Presence Of Enemies Parts 1 and 2
Honor Thy Father
Panic Attack
Also:
The Root Of All Evil
^All Of Which are excellent songs that came after Falling Into Infinity (I am not sure why this seems to be the threshold of where Dream Theater fans seem to be divided.  Some dislike everything after this album but there are some that like stuff after as well).
To repeat already mentioned songs that I enjoy:
Metropolis Pt. 1
Pretty much the entire Metropolis Pt. 2 Album
As I Am
Never Enough
Constant Motion

Hmph, I don't know how permanent this order will be, but here it goes...

  1. Metropolis, pt. 1... The live version off of Score is what got me obsessed with them a few years back
  2. Home
  3. Change of Seasons... My first epic
  4. Surrounded... The first part is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard
  5. Strange Deja Vu
  6. Under a Glass Moon
  7. Octavarium
  8. These Walls... My first song of theirs
  9. Endless Sacrifice... Would be perfect if it weren't for the excessive solos
  10. Space-Dye Vest
