That KC line up could peel off paint from a mile away, so when they were on, THEY WERE ON !
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Of this list I'm going with the masses and one of the most wonderful Yes line-ups ever. Some great other quintets there notwithstanding.

It doesn't get any better, IMHO, than Yes and Mozart's string quintets. Honorable mention for Boccherini's quintets for guitar and strings.

Pentangle. The older I get the better they sound.

These stand out for me (King Crimson, Soft Machine, Gentle Giant and more are favorites of mine, but not because of the line-ups/albums in the poll). I'm not going to vote for one of the others, as I love them them in very different ways and for different reasons:

early Weather Report
PFM 1972
Crac!-era Area
1972 Pentangle
2022 black midi
Radiohead

You're right! I should've included them over one of the metal-borderline-prog groups! Guess I was just a little too hasty throwing this together! Sorry everybody!

LOL Man! AC/DC over the Rainbow Rising line-up? That album influenced countless bands.
