My vote goes to VdGG. For the record, The Hour Candle isn't 23 minutes - a lot of the track is silence.

Supper's Ready. Eruption and Nine Feet Underground come second and third.

"Still waiting for my saviour storms tear me limb from limb my fingers feel like seaweed I'm so far out I'm too far in"
"Plague" for me, but voting over "Supper's Ready" and "Lizard" isn't easy.

"Supper's Ready" gets my vote, but "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" and Focus' underrated "Eruption" gave it a run for its money.

It's a really really close call between "Plague", "9ft", "Supper", and "Eruption". Just heard 9ft and Plague the other day, Supper's I remember already, so I'm giving Eruption a listen and I'll vote later.

Supper's Ready, with Lizard in a reasonably close second.
I think Plague would make an amazing 17 minute song. As it is there's a few minutes of mediocrity in there that drag it down and make it lose focus, and seriously diminish the overall effect of the song.

Actually Echoes or Atom Heart Mother would be my decision but as long as they are not here, I'll choose Supper's Ready.

If A Change of Seasons were substituted for Octavarium, DT would've gotten my vote. It's a tough call between The Water (Spock's Beard) and Supper's Ready (Genesis), but I'll go with the Genesis masterpiece in the end. That album was one of my first prog rock acquisitions. |
Wow, I never thought you would put any epic alongside Supper's Ready, unless maybe a Prog Metal one.
|
Crimson by Edge of Sanity is my favorite epic ever (40 minutes of prog-death metal awesomeness!!). Supper's Ready is right after that. The Water is just fantastic, and I knew from the beginning that Supper's Ready would get more than its share of votes. Otherwise, Supper's Ready is miles and miles ahead of The Water IMO, and that's why I ended up voting for it. It's still worth giving the Beard some recognition!
