Sylvan-Posthumous Silence
Frost-Milliontown

Would the NeoProg fans here agree with this.....?

No, I wouldn't agree and I'm a member of the current Neo team and wasn't asked, hence the list is inaccurate and not updated.

Marillion, IQ, and Arena obviously belong to the list, IMO. And I would add two new up-and-coming neo artists to the list...Wink

Well then name your new list.....don't keep us in suspense. I'm trying to get some recommendation s of the best neo out there.

those are the highest rated?
good albums, worth checking out if you ask me.

No..they were 5 representative albums in that genre according to the 3 members who wrote that page.
I would be interested in what you and Lazland like as your all time favorite neo prog albums.

I still need to know what you've enjoyed so far before i dare recommend anything. Smile

Well....I am a fan of IQ..all periods ,but especially Dark Matter and Frequency.
I have Arena- Contagion...it's ok. Pendragon-Masquerade Overture...again it's ok.
I have Marillion-Script , Fugazi, Afraid Of Sunlight, and a 2 cd compilation of both eras...all pretty good.
but so far IQ has been the one that grabs my attention.

I'm listening to Sylvan -Posthumous Silence right now...I like it so far....(but is that the drink talking...I'm currently drinking a Black Russian with a hint of peanut butter whiskey added)  Wink

All of them are quite brilliant, but everyone here should at least acquaint the, selves with Posthumous Silence, a classic of any genre.

I've started with Jadis' debut album.
Second album: Unicorn - Emotional Wasteland (1995)
Third Album: Mad Puppet - Cube (2000)
Fourth album: Satellite - Nostalgia (2009)
Fifth album: first listen to Clepsydra - The Gap (2019)

If you played "more than meets the eye" by Jadis that's not their debut album. Their debut album(from 1989) is sort of obscure and is self titled.

I posted it in the "what are you listening?" thread. Their debut from 1989.

The only 'neo-prog' I play currently is IQ....  a band that I have come to like quite a lot over the last 10 years.
I also have Arena-Contagion and Pendragon -Masquerade Overtyure but they don't grab me like IQ.
And of course I have several Marillion lp's.
For those who really know 'neo-prog',,,,which bands and specific lp's are worth getting into from the last 20 years? The best of the best?

I think the only neo prog album that made my top 20 was Magenta's Masters of Illusion.

Other ones I enjoyed from 2020 were:
Windom End - Perspective Views
Yacobs - Beautiful
Esthesis - The Awakening
Argus - The Outsider
Airbag - A Day at the Beach

I do enjoy Galahad, Satellite and Mystery. Also Galleon, Jadis, Knight Area, 80s Abel Ganz,  Sylvan, Harvest and a few others. Tongue

A whole slew of great albums by Albion from Poland, Galahad has a few killer releases. Lifesigns is brilliant . Mystery from Canada, Satellite/Collage from Poland again. Drifting Sun has 5 real good albums. Nine Stones Close /Riversea is great as well. Many more.....
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

This would have kept him around - it even made it to my Album Of The Year 2020 as the sole Neo-Prog act. They were just added to PA (you're welcome Wink)

My Top Five Neo Prog albums from 2020

Taskaha - Taskaha

Zio - Flower Torania

Eternal Wanderers - Homeless Soul

IT - Live from ProgDreams VIII

Laughing Stock - The Island

HEY! Laughing stock are at position 3 on my AOTY 2020 - forgot they are actually listed as Neo-Prog at PA (phew, and I'm supposed to be the Neo expert here! LOL).

And even more phew, ZIO are #20 on my AOTY list! Embarrassed (And I even added ZIO recently with the rest of the Neo team!)

Plenty of Neo-Prog at 2020's AOTY, it appears Tongue

I think Pendragon's album is the only neo-prog i listened to last year.
Airbag is neo-prog here on PA, I kinda disagree, but they did a good album last year.

I haven't explored much neo-prog lately, I don't love the genre like I used to in the past. Oh well... Embarrassed
