Several of your five star ratings only seem to be pretty amazing as well, Logan.  I just listened to my first samples of the Vannier album last night, needless to say it's very high on my want list now.

Thanks -- I long avoided rating albums (and have only done a few), since I know many look down on rating without reviews, but actually would like to rate far more.  I do plan to review that Vannier album at some time as it has been one of my favourite discoveries of the last few years (I discovered it after re-discovering William Sheller's Lux Aeterna, and was searching for more rock, psych, and jazz, with choral music and chant).  That led to discovering Geinoh Yamashirogumi's Osorezan (another I'd like to review), David Axelrod, more Morricone and various others.  First I have to get down to completing his discography, though (I'll do it little by little).  It's a great album, I feel.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Have you heard any other Geinoh Yamashirogumi?  Chi no Hibiki Higashi Yuroppu wo Utau is good as well.  It's all choral music, though with no rock, psych or jazz.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of Geinoh.  That album is very  lovely.  I like it a lot.   By the way, love your five star ones.

Thanks, same with your two.  I need to hear more from Geinoh, but their albums aren't exactly the easiest to find.  Any particular recommendations on which to look for other than those two?

^ Sorry for the rather off-topic chat.   Interesting lists, I know I'm hoping to discover some magnificent obscurities here.  EDIT: Please do a one star reviews topic, it would be so much fun (then we'll get some debate going). LOL

There is some excellent live material I've heard (don't own the albums, but I've heard some excellent music from them).  I like the Akira soundtrack a great deal, and that would have been my first exposure to their music (I love the movie too) -- there are two album versions of that. Yamato Gensho is good.

Sounds good, I'll look out for those.  I liked the YT vid of the soundtrack, I wasn't sure how much I would but I shouldn't have doubted Geinoh.
