The original thread can be found here. Let's get started with voting! Reminder: name three songs you consider the best in Genesis catalogue. Put them in order. First gets 4.5 points, second - 3 points, third - 2 points. At the end of the thread I'm going to sum it up, declare the winner and then move to the next spot (#2). All votes will be reset then! Voting is closed. No. 1 song is... Supper's Ready !!! 01. Supper's Ready. 75 pts [16;17] 02. Firth of Fifth. 39 pts [2;13] 03. The Cinema Show. 32 pts [4;9] 04. The Musical Box. 20 pts [0;8] 05. Watcher of the Skies. 11,5 pts [1;4] Number in [x ; y] = number of first place votes ; number of total votes. 29 users cast their vote. Maximum points total is 29 x 4.5 = 130.5 Supper's Ready got over 57% of total points.Edited by thief - February 26 2020 at 10:12 |

My vote: 01. Supper's Ready (4.5 points) 02. The Cinema Show (3 points) 03. Firth of Fifth (2 points) I think the first two are self-explanatory. The battle for third spot is quite fierce since I really adore a bunch of shorter pieces too. In the end, Firth of Fifth is my favorite guitar solo to exercise so I spent much more time with this one. It gets the nod! Edited by thief - February 19 2020 at 07:04 |

My vote
1 - Suppers Ready (4.5 points) 2 - Firth of Fifth (3 points) 3 - One for the Vine (2 points) Suppers Ready is my favourite prog epic of all time, and ultimately my top Genesis choice. Firth of Fifth - From the brilliant Tony Banks piano intro to Hackett's best guitar solo, to the mind blowing live performances (with or without Gabriel) it's simply classic Genesis. One for the Vine is full of rich melody, and oozes melancholy and drama in equal measure. It's one of Banks' finest compositions, and one of the best Collins era prog epics. |

Watcher of the Skies The Return of the Giant Hogweed Get 'em out by Friday For the first places I prefer shorter songs; it has to be perfect! (something more difficult to achieve on longer songs). 'Watcher..' has it all: dynamic, alien tempo, a rocker, an emblematic album opener, love the lyrics, and I think it has some 'magic' on it. Edited by Machinemessiah - February 19 2020 at 08:22 |

Three favourite Genesis songs from three different albums:-
1. Firth of Fifth (4.5 points) 2. Watcher of the Skies (3 points) 3. The Musical Box (2 points) I wonder why 4.5 points for first place though. Why not just round it up to 5 points?

Hah! We either place Supper's Ready on top, or not at all, so far. There are also 2 songs from And Then There Were Three considered. Interesting! Looking ahead to see other votes. Will keep this thread open until tomorrow for sure.
