Cristi's cat is just about as strong a draw as all forum folks together, but I'll vote for the folks as the cat has enough votes to be already happy.

To know that many people appreciate prog, to hear their opinions, and interact with them.

The wonderful women as well as the finest ham sandwiches found north of Zimbabwe...but that’s a given methinks.
Nahh I really enjoy the new patio and the zinc toilets. Those two new additions really put PA heads and shoulders above other music sites. |

I voted for Cristi's cat because it's a cat, but I probably should have gone for "kills time at work" or maybe "other" (Svetty's attempts to nominate every vaguely prog band on Bandcamp for inclusion in PA, his attempts to flood PA with YouTube pages and then his numerous alter-egos).

I dig the reviewers.
Different insights have helped influence what "new" music to buy.

Finding out that music stopped progressing after the release of John Cage's 4'22" --that we've all been living in a dream-like Matrix of cacophony and pointless noodlings performed to arbitrary tunings and white people's rhythms.

What do I love about PA?: Watching people who weren't even born the first time welcoming people back to the show that ended over 40 years ago

I was so confused by the 'Cristi's cat' one, and I only now realized that there is a cat in Cristi's profile picture....
Wow. I might need to get my eyesight checked, or start paying more attention in general.

Assuming you’re not saying that sarcastically, I genuinely do love seeing younger people join and contribute to the forum - even if they say things that have been said here before. Everyone is excitable in that discovery phase, and I hate seeing some of the grumpy old codgers shoot them down. Sometimes this forum is not the most welcoming for new members. Of course, your tongue is either clearly in your cheek or you are being wilfully obtuse to claim the show “ended over 40 years ago”. There is more prog than ever, and as vital and original as it ever was. There were some not so original, and not so great prog bands back in the day, and the same is true now. But anyone claiming prog ended 40 years ago either has a very narrow definition of prog, or has their ears full of potatoes. By all means state your preference for a certain era, but writing off all prog after a certain arbitrary date is as nonsensical as claiming an entire genre of music (the most common example on this forum being hip hop) is rubbish. There are ways of stating opinions without being unnecessarily negative about that which one doesn’t like. |
