Olivier Feuillerat biography
Olivier FEUILLERAT is a French composer and musician (as well as a pretty dedicated Allan Holdsworth fan).

Back in 2006 he started planning the recording of his own material, and throughout 2007 and 2008 he recorded more than 20 of his own songs, and with contributions from Stéphane Gassin (keyboards, piano), Marco Machera (bass) and Jean Denis Rivaleau (drums) Olivier managed to get the performance quality he wanted for his creations.

Early in 2009 his debut album Stories For An Open Mind was issued, featuring 12 tracks pretty diverse in style and sound; where the common denominator is that those are the tracks Olivier thought were the best of the bunch from the recording sessions that took place in 2007 and 2008.

3 stars Those who enjoy sinking their teeth into challenging musical escapades have an album to consider getting with this debut by French artist Olivier Feuillerat and his first Projekt.

His musical foundation seems to be in jazz or fusion, elements characteristic of both these closely related stylistic expressions are evident in most excursions. But in addition Olivier is found of adding spacey textures to his creations - in particular in the opening passages - and he's equally fond of utilizing both disharmonies, dissonances and arhythmic passages. The former two pretty prevalent and used with a subtle finesse, the latter not as often encountered and not quite as subtly either.

Guitar antics of the clean as well as distorted variety is something of a red thread in most songs here, but there's room for some piano, keyboards or synth dominated affairs too.

One to seek out if challenging and somewhat eclectic music of the fusion variety sounds like your kind of thing.

Thanks to windhawk for the artist addition.
