I'm sure they are.  LOL

If the offense can do what it's supposed to, Phils will be back in the World Series.

I have my concerns about the Philllies age, but  they're not that old yet.

It is over. He's already agreed to it.

I told everyone he wasn't signing with the Yankees.

The Dan Uggla trade rumors have begun here.  He would be a great pick up for the Tigers.  Not sure what we would send the other way.  I'm assuming Scott Sizemore, Brennan Boesch and either Jacob Turner or Andy Oliver.

Well the Braves got him.
Yes, I know. Cry  Edgar Renteria strikes again. Angry  All that Atlanta had to give up was Omar Infante and a reliever.  Omar was one of the guys the Tigers gave to Atlanta in return for one year of crappy play from Edgar Renteria.

As an Atlanta fan, news of this damn near made me choke. The Braves gave up Omar Infante, who is a more reliable hitter with lower power numbers, and Mike Dunn, a rather decent reliever. As a batter, I'd say it's a moot point: Omar puts men on base, Uggla has pop. You have to put a whole lot of faith in Uggla's power numbers for what we're about to look at. Mike Dunn pitched 19 innings and gave up 4 earned last season (1.89 ERA). Solid prospect, at least. As fielders at 2nd base, slight advantage Omar. However, Omar doesn't always play second. You see, the Braves have another All Star at 2nd already: Martin Prado. Omar was a utility guy: he could play damn near any position on the field (in fact, in the majors, he has played every spot but pitcher, catcher, and 1st). Uggla... well, he's never played anything but 2nd in the majors. Martin is a very capable fielder, and he's getting dumped into left field to make room for Uggla. We now get to deal with lower fielding percentages in left and wasted talent. Great. Still no power in the outfield. Greeeeeat. All to move an overpaid oaf to 2nd. WONDERFUL. You sacrifice what took Atlanta to the playoffs last season to bank on a man putting up more home runs. To me, it's an idiotic trade. I can only wonder if the deal wasn't made to deprive someone else of Dan Uggla.
Hail Eris!

The Crawford deal with the Red Sox somewhat confuses me. A lot of the value he offers comes from his superb defense in left field which becomes pretty much irrelevant playing in Fenway. I expected them to go after Werth rather than Crawford for that reason, but I guess Werth's power to the outfield doesn't play particularly well in that stadium.

Get used to it unless they get a salary cap.

It will be interesting. Talk is that the LA Angels have a lot of free money and might be able to get Albert away from the Cardinals. The Cubbies are being talked about as well.
I am used to it, but it doesn't mean that I have to like it.  Unfortunately, the way the U.S. population is spread it is always going to be the case that there are big market teams, middle market teams, and little market teams and David will beat Goliath every so often, but Goliath will be the winner most of the time.  i'm definitely not a Giants fan, but it was pretty cool that a team of misfits won the World Series instead of the team that spent the most money.
