Topic: 2012: The Best Epic? Posted: December 07 2012 at 03:02 |
Criteria to inclusion:
- Corresponding album with minimum number of ratings: 50
- Minimum average rating value: 4.00
- If some album has more than 1 Epic, I've picked the longest one
I believe, if Big Big Train have been stretched just slightly some of their songs on the album of the year, this song would surely win.

"Guardian Angel" by Galahad, although the chorus is a bit cheesy, I can not get it out of my head.

As for your suggestions, many of them don't meet my criteria. Nevertheless, thank you!
My favourite Epic of the year 2012 is Motorpsycho & Stĺle Storlřkken's "Through the Veil". Really timeless music!

I only know one of those listed, and I can't think of any others, but I do love the "Felicité Thösz" suite, so I gave it a vote. Magma commonly beats the competition for me.

Hi, I'm not allowed to vote in these polls for some reason, but I sure wish "Note" by Beardfish were included.

I have to say that I am quite surprised at the glaringly missing "epics" from this list: I AND THOU's "And I Awaken," KOTEBEL's "Concerto for Piano and Electric Ensemble," THE TEA CLUB's "Firebears," MYSTERY's "Another Day," BATTLESTATION's "Prologue: Nature's Morte/You're Not Welcome Here," and NO ANGLAGARD, ASTRA, DIAGONAL or THINKING PLAGUE! These are from 2012! They are incredible!

^ I think the definition of 'epic' would be 15 minutes plus in my book although admittedly the OP offered no guidelines on this.
