Tangerine Dream - Cyclone (I have mixed feelings about this one, I probably need to listen to this one more.)

I'm the same with this one, Sam. It's certainly a decent album, but I much prefer their albums on either side of it. I'm mot adverse to them using vocalists once in a while (I also think their 80's album `Tyger' with the female singer is rather good), but I find them a little forced here, like he's trying a bit too hard. I also think the instrumental track on the second side is kind of `by the numbers', even if it's really nice to listen to.

I know Tom Ozric and Dave Guldbamsen rate it very highly.
I saw Tom's review and I thought I was missing something on this one. Good to know that it's not just me Smile

Wow !! Didn't think anyone bothers with my rambling (hence the lack of reviewing from me......this is inspiring). CYCLONE - love it, and notice the inner gatefold photo - hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, do no evil. It took me years to work that one out !!   My true fave TD album will always be Stratosfear. But I'm equally at home listening to Atem, Rubycon, Tangram, Underwater Sunlight etc. I gave up on them following Lily On The Beach.

^ It's always nice to read them. Thumbs Up I guess we all have our favourite albums that most don't get. It's too soon for me to choose, I only started listening to them, and the whole genre one year ago: Stratosfear and Vangelis' Spiral warmed a cold Winter night Smile

Today:
Le Orme - Storia O Leggenda (Difficult to listen to this album, after knowing their next one)
Láquesis - s/t (This album is amazing Big smile)

Pink Floyd--The Endless River. ( I still love this one guys. I shared this album with my girlfriend today and long story short she was moved. Lol)

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Awesome you're checking out Supersister, Sam, a terrific Canterbury influenced band, although `Iskander' has quite a different sound, but is terrific in it's own right! You can get the first two SS albums on one CD, a damn bargain of two perfect albums! Sadly I don't have that set yet myself...Other than `Iskander', the only other CD I have is `Spircal Staircase', which I don't think too highly of.

By the way, in regards to your question about TDream's `Rockoon', it's not a particularly great album. Very cold sound, and often electric guitar driven (I don't really like it so much when TD electric guitar solo so obviously), and much of the drum programming has a badly dated 80's sound. But, if you persist with it, there's some nice moments that pop up throughout, some cool themes here and there. I'm a member of a Tangerine Dream group, and there's quite a few people in that who really like that album. I appreciate it more than when I first got it, but I find it's almost impossible to play beginning to end!

Do any of you guys know this tasty instrumental jazz/fusion album (sadly no CD reissue that I can tell?) :

Scope - s/t (1974)

^ Thanks for the suggestion. I'll also approach Spiral Staircase carefuly.

I don't think I'll enjoy that. There's probably a lot of good TD I haven't check yet. Smile

The first reviewer says something about CD Ermm

Today:
Jaga Jazzist - Live With Britten Sinfonia (Amazing album, their music sounds so epic here)
Unitopia - Covered Mirror (Great cover album, they managed to give them their personal touch and a very interesting one, especially the Genesis, Yes and Led Zeppelin covers)
Vangelis - Soil Festivities (I wasn't expecting an album so relaxing but a very good one. I had to drink another coffee after that LOL)
Janus - Gravedigger (Something to wake up although the first side has some very repetitive parts and too much phaser effects. Good thing there's a more acoustic epic after that.)

Yeah it's a beautiful Vangelis compilation, reissued in CD in 1994, it features the original soundtrack from the Cosmos TV series (Movement 3 from Heaven and Hell), besides part 2 of Beaubourg and Part 1 of the soundtrack from the film 'Entends-Tu Les Chiens Aboyer?'. But what makes this compilation quite original is listening to these amazing Vangelis excerpts merged in such a naturally majestic flowing way with some superb classical music (Vivaldi, Bach, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Korsakov and others), brilliantly selected as to fit perfectly in such a stunning final result! Sincerely this masterpiece is indeed amongst my favourites, well I have to admit that I am an inveterate fan of Vangelis music. Big smile

Yeah Florian is excellent! Recently Collage grew very much in me, but Florian think better it also deserves a especial place amongst my favourites. Are there songs that you enjoyed in "Storia o leggenda"? Even usually not being a 'lyrics' man towards music my italian comprehension is not bad and I found interesting the story told in 'Il Quadro' - especificaly how the impressions he gets from the painting change in about a year.

Also enjoyed 'Come Una Giostra', the only other one I listened from the album "Storia o leggenda".

I don't recall any, I think it's a bit worse than the previous album and I didn't think that one was much memorable. Also it was my first listen. I really like Collage, even with its obvious ELP influences.
