Got to say, Touch was a bit disappointing. IMO it's a pretty disjointed affair, with little or no sense of direction. Also, the cover art promises some sort of space/psych rock (yeah, I know, I shouldn't base my expectations of an album on the cover art, but still...) that I feel it fails to deliver, although the longer tracks touches on psychedelia ever so slightly. I liked those, the longer tracks, which were given time to develop to something more than just ordinary rock songs, but none of the shorter tracks did much for me. But, yes, it was my first listen to it, and I feel there was something there that I could learn to enjoy with further listens, so I will definitely revisit it at some point. Thanks for the info on Taal. Sounds like something that would be up my alley. Will check them out, and Dreadnought, too, haven't gotten around to them yet. Anyway, before: Sigur Rós - Valtari (2012) and Explosions in the Sky - How Strange, Innocence (2000) Now: Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson - Unnoticeable in a Tiny Town, Invisible in the City (2005) My first listen to this Norwegian post rock band.

Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson - s/t (2010)
First listen. A bit more straightforward post rock, and a bit more use of electronics, here than on their more indie rock inclined debut. Good stuff (both albums), but nothing extraordinary. I'm quite enjoying it though. Perfect for a walk on the streets of Oslo on a rainy summer evening (I just did, and now I'm soaking wet). Up next (after changing to a dry set of clothes): Biosphere / Deathprod - Nordheim Transformed (1998)

Yeah I suspected it could turn that way for you, actually the shorter tracks are not ordinary rock songs at all (with only maybe one being an exception) the first two track are surprisingly progressive for the time. Like I said the pieces of the puzzle might fall in place after a few more spins. Thanks for mentioning Dreadnaught, only when you do plan to check them out be sure it's Dreadnaught and not Dreadnought which is a completely different band |
