Excellent album, no doubt. Still like Raven the most, but this one's as good as Grace, maybe a bit more 'catchy' and accessible, whilst remaining thoughtful and complex throughout. |
I didn't find it great yet, but if it's like Grace, I will only get into it after some spins The Raven was love at first listen though

Yeah I suspected it could turn that way for you, actually the shorter tracks are not ordinary rock songs at all (with only maybe one being an exception) the first two track are surprisingly progressive for the time. Like I said the pieces of the puzzle might fall in place after a few more spins. Thanks for mentioning Dreadnaught, only when you do plan to check them out be sure it's Dreadnaught and not Dreadnought which is a completely different band |
I didn't say they were , but no, didn't hear anything particularly progressive there, but I'll remember to listen for that next time.
Oops , yeah I meant Dreadnought...er, Dreadnaught...eh, the one with The American Standard.

Hope you're right, Tom, that it's as good as Grace. That's easily my favourite SWilson album. Listened to The Raven the other day. A fine album, but not as good as Grace, and just on par with Insurgentes, IMO.
Anyway, I'm starting today's listening session now with this:
Biosphere / Deathprod - Stator (2015) First listen.

Everyone's least favorite Yes album...and I love it. Oh well. Just one of those things, I guess.

Deathprod - Treetop Drive (1994) My first listen to this, the first solo album of former Motorpsycho audio virus injector, Supersilent's Helge "Deathprod" Sten. Dark ambient drone stuff. Pretty good. I actually think I've heard the three "Treetop Drive" tracks before...yes, I think that's what he played when I saw him opening for Swans.
