So far it's hard to announce a winner for this year - and there's more to come. In no particular order these are some of the good ones I've heard:

Echolyn - I heard you listening
Corvus Stone - Corvus Stone Unscrewed
Amadeus Awad - Death is just a Feeling
Franck Carducci - Torn Apart
Tiger Moth Tales - Story Tellers Pt 1
The Tangent - A Spark In the Aether
Gekko Project - Reyna of Titan
Hi Angelo. I listened all albums in your list and agree with you about Echolyn , Amadeus Awad (great album), Gekko Project (its great too. I like Retro Prog) . I interest when I saw Amadeus Awad in your list. Great line up and Great music. I can't categorize that. This isn't Prog Metal and I don't think this is Xover. What is your opinion about that?

Oh I forgot to add that one, just got it this week, give it a few more spins and will probably be in the top 10.

Listened to it this morning (per your recommendation), and found it quite impressive. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thus far:
Kendrick Lamar– To Pimp a Butterfly (can't deny how much I like this album)
Viet Cong– S/t (inventive lo-fi post-punk)
Krallice– Ygg huur (hold-on-for-your-dear-life black metal)
Stern– Bone Turquoise (experimental slowcore math rock)
Conduct– Fear and Desire (Albini produced post-punk. Like Joy Division with fuzzier bass and a harsher vocalist).
Sannhet– Revisionist (Instrumental post-metal)
Zs– Xe (Minimalist electroacoustic chamber math thing)

I imagine the new Beach House album is in my future. They actually came to my town while recording the album and Victoria Legrand was at our show that night! Unfortunately, we weren't completely satisfied with our name or sound back then, so we changed both. She wouldn't be able to look us up nor would she recognize us if she found us.

I've tried to get motivated to listen to the new Panda Bear, but there's just so much psychedelic pop coming out these days, and I'm a little tired of it. I usually end up enjoying the releases I listen to in that vein, but feel little motivation to listen to them again (e.g. Tame Impala, the new Unknown Mortal Orchestra album).

Nice list Tony and with a couple few that I haven't heard before.

I know what you mean about the abundance of psych pop these days, and there is far too much of it that sounds the same. The new Panda Bear though is a little different methinks. The inclusion of those abrasive and fluttering electronics definitely alters the 'Beach Boys feel'.
I'd much rather listen to the new Pond thoughBig smile Thrashes the hell out of Tame Impala's Currents.

Not just a bit bb - I love that thing!
Very odd mix of styles but it works. Gospel meets post-punk.
There are so few modern vocalists that speak to me, so I naturally take notice when someone manages to go beyond the overemotional fad that Radiohead/Muse/Coldplay/Kashmir/Mew/etc etc tend to favour.
Love me a bit of gravel and boom to the mix - and I get both from Algiers' front man.

Cool
The first cut is the sweetest.

Without a doubt my fave from the album. I love how ceremonial and enigmatic it gets.

2015 is my favorite progressive rock year in decades.  2015 has pillaged my wallet.    As of today, I haven't delved into the Jazz Fusion or Italian Prog scenes, two of my beloved sub-genres.   Any 2015 Jazz or Italian recommendations?  I really like 2014's Logos album.

^^Nice. Thumbs Up

Also, I forgot to include Father John Misty and Wilco.

After all, with an opening cut like this, how can I not include Wilco:

As for new RPI suggestions, I'd go with PAs local Aussie treat.

...oh and there's a new Arti e Mestieri album out too which should interest both the RPI and fusion fan in you.
....and the Swedish band Hooffoot, which I have still to get myself, but I've heard it should be a real humdinger.

One thing that sticks out too me also is the damn bassist. Real funky, tasteful basslines come out of nowhere and just really put a neat spin on the aggressive nature of their sound.
That and the lack of traditional drums they use - im usually the opposite, and attracted to bands that have a kick-butt drummer, but the absence of fills and cymbal work overall is really fresh sounding. Instead we get tons of clapping, tambourine, bass rum, some electronic drums here and there - but overall the change of pace for me really keeps me interested.

Yeah I know what you mean about the lack of drums. It rather suits the album. Reminds me of Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come - Journey album, where the drummer fired himself and instated a drum machine, the likes you only really find on old organs with big red and green buttons. So corny yet so fitting.
The same goes for Algiers, although it's much more refined.
I do hope they make a future album with a drummer. Preferably a rrrrrumbling and all-over-the-place kinda fella.
