Geddy Lee, just because he played with his feet while playing bass

In a moment of impulsivity, I voted for Wakeman, and will stick with it for now, but the two guys who've really moved me with their playing lately are Neal Morse (on Testimony) and Derek Sherinian (on Ice Cycles). Not enough to make me cast a vote for them, mind you, just enough to warrant mention.

The Caped crusader is @ No 1....
But you forgot to list, Banks, Greenslade, Badens who are ALL FAR better than Richard Wright ! - Even Geddy Lee is better than him....
How about Greg Boynton of Dagaband (ELP wannabees but good live!) - He could play a bit !

Where's Kev Moore?
One "Space-Dye Vest" smokes all those frenzy five-minute solos (which I like nevertheless).

3 pages and no mention of Hugh Banton (Van Der Graaf Generator). Banton is the man! He may not have been as showy as Wakeman and the like, but he had a distinct style, and he was a master tinkerer, building or re-building his keyboards to suit the needs of the band's material. Hail Sir Banton!

I voted for Patrick Moraz as he is the only one that can easily play anything that anyone else on the list can play. Whether you like what he does as an artist or not the man is a remarkable talent and his interests span the whole musical spectrum. Keith Emerson and Rick Wright being the next most talented and I cant say which one I would give the nod to. Emerson being a tremendous soloist and Wright being light years ahead of the game with his sonic paintings. He does deserve credit in the big picture.

Again why is a Poll so lop-sided - include Geddy Lee and exclude nearly every other prog keyboard player who is better than him !
Human stupidity at it's most frightening !
However (how big would the poll choices list be in this case ???)

Keith Emerson gets my vote. 15 votes for him so far. See, Richard? It's not so bad as you think. There are a few ELP fans out there.

While Wakeman has been more prolific, Emerson at his prime was the guy to beat. IMHO, Wakeman's solos always seemed too "fiddly", very technical but cold. Emerson (again, in his prime) had more soul to his technique. Whereas Wakeman's style was quasi-classical (he could do runs up and down the keyboard at blazing speeds), Emerson could do just about anything...blues, jazz, honky-tonk, swing, plus great rock & roll technique. Having said this, I'm also a great Tony Banks fan. He is certainly a very innovative composer and player. Jurgen Fritz, John Lord, George Duke, Chick Corea stand up pretty well too IMHO. Sadly, I lost alot of respect for Moraz when he started slummin' for the Moody Blues. Pierre
