Great song!!! As many have mentioned, the section in 13/8 is typical Genesis and definitely what makes them one of my favorite's. The Seconds Out version is also great, Chester makes the first section (under the vocals) so interesting with his use of "ghost strokes"!!!

And lastly, the outro section capps it all off. Maybe not one of their best but it "is" among the better from the post PG era......IMHO!

The song sounds trivial at the start but really launches into one of Genesis' best musical moments. I love that album!!!

Not a bad song; I do especially like the middle instrumental section. In retrospect I think we can see Collins' goofy side start coming out, epitomized in songs like 'Who Dunnit?'.

Without a doubt, it's a good song, but then 'A Trick Of The Tail' is my second favourite Genesis album, after 'The Lamb'.
Superb album, without any weak songs on it. Smile

Great melody, superb middle piece, harmonies are good, nice musical inventions, lively, some parts are quite humorous... I voted yes, as you can tell.

Actually, all the songs on A Trick Of The Tail have a lot of quality in them.

This song is a musical benchmark- this is the first unlistenable Collins style right wing pop song by Genesis. Bask in it's mediocrity.

I am listening to this song again as I type and have decided that I really like it.  I had marked the A Good Song button when this poll was originally created but upon further listening I have decided that I really do like this song.  Oh well, for what it is worth I just thought I would share this bit of useless information.Wacko

the only thing good about it is the catchy title.

Same here, it would be much better but, the instrumental druming is so goad awful I can barely get passed it.

I quite like it myself. The instrumental break is one of my favorites on the album. The only issue I have with it is that Phil is no Peter, so the characters seem a bit muffled together and indistinguishable. I still think it's a better effort than Squonk or the title track, though.
All the old familiar choruses come crowding in a different key: Melodies decaying in sweet dissonance.

A good song. When Genesis tried comedy songs for light relief they generally fell a bit flat, but this one actually works pretty well. Not a classic, but it fits in nicely with the rest of ATOTT and the instrumental break, as others have already pointed out, is superb. And it's at least 8 zillion times better than All In A Mouse's Night - mind you, the same could be said for Wannabe by The Spice Girls.

Neither good or bad. It sits somewhere in the middle. The instrumental sections show just how good Genesis could be at the time, and the verses show just how bad they could be.

It's a good song and fun to listen to. I don't see anything wrong with it. In fact, I quite like it.

Anywho, much rather listen to There Goes a Tenner by Kate Bush.

LOLBrilliant, just brilliant Dean.

I agree with you about Kate Bush, although I must admit a find that song a teensy bit embarrassing as well.

It is a perfectly acceptable part of the great Genesis classics.
