Forgive me if this one was discussed before (no search results showed up indicating this was the case), but Mexican band Cronico might be worth considering for Symponic or one of the Art Rock subgenres.
I just received their CD Delirium Room (2007) which is quite an interesting listen. More band info can be found here: http://www.myspace.com/cronico Credit where credit is due: even if not active on PA right now, Erik Neuteboom was the one who brought Cronico to mine (and our) attention. |

Angelo, I was listening to the songs posted on MySpace. The first song I heard was quite symphonic. The other songs have kind of reminded me of some of Jon Anderson's solo work, but that is probably more of the sound and tone of the vocals or it might just be my strange sense of hearing. |

I do think they deserve a spot here, though I'm not sure where. If the Symphonic Team doesn't want them, they could be evaluated by the Eclectic and Xover team (as usual).

They weren't in the progfreak charts - have added them in there now, and attached them to "my" team. I won't have the opportunity to check them out for a few days, but hopefully some of my fellow team members will.

I received a PM by Memo to check this band, because I wasn't informed before than I remember, so heard the 5 songs available on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/cronico : Floating: Excellent Symphonic track with a clear Psyche keyboard orientation in some parts, wonderful song Deja Vou: Again that excellent Psyche keyboard but some parts remind me of Albedo by Vangelis, the Symphonic elements are less obvious. Grace Land: Despite the Psyche keys, there's something that reminds me of White Witch by Magenta, honestly the vocalist doesn't convince me, but that's not the point; borderline between Symphonic and Neo. Delirium: The acoustic intro is nice, but this time Lizbeth Mendizabal sounds too nasal, reminds me of The Nanny with the difference that Lizbeth knows how to sing, this track sounds very Neo. When I Try: Hard to describe, if it wasn't for the nasal voice, would be wonderful, guess Symphonic. Intrepid Nightmare: Pure symphonic
I believe is a no brainer for Symphonic, despite the other subjacent elements, Symphonic is the main sound. The keyboards remind me of Ken Hensley by parts, love this band. I need Guigo Eric and Claude's vote, will have to wait a couple of weeks, but I'm for inclusion.

According to the Progfreak charts he's already given a positive vote - along with my supporting one; back in November or something.

Just added them personally, sadly the info and data of their releases is terrible, their site in MySpace is very poor and they don't have another one.
