I'm warning y'all. Schools been out for a couple days so I've been starting to review again, which I stopped doing the middle of the first semester because I didn't have the time.

Watch out!

Good news.I hope it will inspire us to write more reviews, but I would suggest - instead of having a flood  of YES, GENESIS or Pink Floyd. It would help to balance the content of the site IMOBig smile

What have I been complaining about? I have come across many people who have accessed the site and the most common complaint is the redundancy of reviews. One guy even ridiculed the site for this. I`m only relaying this for the site`s own good. Some people think the issue shouldn`t be pursued. I became so disillusioned that I wrote a review for Selling England By The Pound. Not the greatest review but I think it shows just how generic reviews can become. I`ll actually try and find something that hasn`t been reviewed or has just few reviews and do it this afternoon.

Ian, if you think an inspiring review can't be written for an old classic, you obviously missed Tszirmay's poetry about Close to the Edge yesterday.  For that matter, your Selling England review was pretty good too.

But I disagree with the way this contest is run, it promotes quantity over quality and it makes people want to throw a bunch of short, not very thoughtful blurbs up in the hope of getting more chances to win.  That is what we don't need more of.  You even have some people almost admit as much....like....'gotta start writing like crazy so I can win' type comments.

A contest is wonderful, but there should be one big prize for the most thoughtful, well done review.  Not a drawing that rewards machine gun blurbs.

Contest? What contest? I like to think that my reviews are inspired ( or at least most of them Embarrassed ). In the beginning it was sort of a novelty to me since I had never written anything about music prior to joining the site and some of them suck eggs. however  I`m listening to something from the past right now that is rather impelling that I think I`ll have a go at.

Hmmm, I'd suggest contacting Unicorn Digital (Canada) and Metal Mind Productions (Poland). Progrock Records might also be worthwhile contacting.

Don't know how they'll respond though.

Musea Records (France) is another label that might be worth contacting, and perhaps Black Widow and Mellow Records too (both Italian labels).

Max, ask Greg at Synphonic.....with all the word of mouth advertising and goodwill he gets around here, surely he'd kick in a gift Cert I would think.
