Wellthat cover of SW does not excite me as i want to see some new blood onthe cover. How about VDGG, Kraftwerk or Riverside for a change.

I stopped subscribing to the mg this week after buying the Foxtrot issue. Its too expensive and not delivering the goods anymore as far as things that are useful in it.

PROG has their favs i.e. those who will move copies so not surprised they will bang on as often as possible abt 'em, doesnt help that SW is so damn prolific too.

Kind of the opposite of The Wire, who will ditch you after your first 2-3 albums so they can focus on the next new avant big thing..............

.......nope, I think he's tied with RUSH and JETHRO TULL, with 3 apiece. (Although technically this is only
the first time he's made the cover by himself (the other two he shared with Fripp and Akerfeldt
      respectively).

Certainly the covers look intriguing...I've only read one issue so far as explained below:

I was mentioned in issue #29 (on page 24) along with my old "neo-prog" band Janysium (London, 1980's).  I was surprised that we got the reference, and of course it was nice to see, although I was left scratching my head a bit.  Here's why...

You see, there were four members in Janysium:
- Peter Matuchniak:  guitar (me),  Simon Strevens:  drums,  Sean Lewis:  keyboards,  Martin Polley:  bass

Since then, three of the original band members are still actively doing music-related activities today:  Simon writes and records for hire in London, Sean produces classical records in Norway, and I've released three albums recently through the ProgRock Records label (solo album and Gekko Projekt this year, and Evolve IV in 2008).

Only one member bowed out of the public music scene, my good friend Martin.  And who did the magazine write about in greater detail, along with the only modern-day photo of the band members?  Yep, Martin!  But then again he always was the best looking, and that's what it's all about after all, right?  Hehe...

Ah well....
Peter

I've missed the last three issues or so, they just haven't been delivered. Classic Rock as well hasn't come in a few months even though we've paid for both. Nice.

yeah mags are a biz, ppl need to eat........and they'll def plug u more if you advertise a lil more with 'em so long you aint total utter crap or toally unrelated to the music genre featured......

so the only way they can sell is to feature yr fav artists or the big ones over n over again to generate interest and hopefully more sales

What truth?  I'm puzzled.

A magazine is a magazine - they are a slick way of selling you advertising for things you want to buy - that's why we buy magazines - to see what new things are availble for us to buy: the latest releases, the re-issues, the t-shirts and the up-coming tours and gigs - the articles and interviews have never been anything other than window-dressing (just like going on Letterman or Wossie, the artists only do that to plug their latest releases).
What?

I've read a few and they seemed alright. Not Fanzines for sure. Not technucally and not in look.

Despite their supposed manifesto, these are not serious magazines telling truths, they are fanzines telling fans what they want to hear, peddling wares they know will sell. I thought this one might be different - it isn't.

Not being a smart-ass here, but genuinely curious as to why you feel you've been ripped off.

classic rip off

A rip-off is if you pay for something but don't receive it. Or if you pay too much an service that was not needed. This is just an expensive magazine. The price is on the cover. you don't have to buy it.

I know what a rip-off is, you don't have to point it out - I paid for something I didn't receive when I bought this magazine, it doesn't deliver what it suggests. It's should be self-evident that you only know it's a rip-off after you've bought it, you can't know that by just looking at the price on the cover. I certainly won't buy it again.
