Though I'm in favor of allowing people to own guns and keep them at hometo protect their homes and family, it can't be denied that shooting somebody because they are on your porch being obnoxious is just a little bit of a stretch in the "defend my family and property" thing...
Some people are just too quick with the trigger

You do realize that the city of Detroit is the murder capital of the world? The man had every right to be on edge about someone banging on his door at 4:00 in the morning. In retrospect and with a clear mind, the obvious right answer would have been to dial 911 and have the police come and take care of the situation, but in the heat of the moment he chose wrong.
I am picturing the old timer in sitcoms/movies coming out with a shotgun yelling "you kids get off of my lawn", and then the gun went off. |

If the world is just the US then yes Detroit is the murder capital of the world. (Ciudad Juarez, many cities in Honduras and many other would beg to differ if we are talking about the larger world). But even in those places it wouldn't be considered anything else than a murder the indiscriminate shooting of someone for the exposed reasons. If more is found out and we learn she was threatening the shooter, I would reconsider that.

There are so many murder capitals of the world that Detroit would really have to step up its game if it wants to claim that title.
I think Detroit is the job-murder capital of the world though.

C'mon Teo, you have lived in the US long enough to know nothing else matters outside of the US.
The only thing that has been released to the news is that the homeowner claims that he accidentally shot her. I don't think that any other "fact" will ever be revealed until someone develops the power to talk to the dead. Obviously, everything else is speculation on our parts. I don't know what that means. The gun discharged on its own. His finger was on the trigger and bumped it but he didn't mean to pull it. He thrust the gun at her in a threat to make her leave and the gun went off either because of A or B. She reached for the gun and in their struggle it went off. He meant to shoot a warning shot at her head and instead hit her. Edited by rushfan4 - November 15 2013 at 15:02 |

I haven't researched more than what the news piece had but will this turn into another Trayvon Martin case? Will race be an issue here for CNN FOXNEWS and all of them to play with?

Oh my.... If the guy killed her without good reason it's a murder but please not make it another race case.
I wonder what would Mr Sharpton would do without these type of cases. He would have to paint himself white, go out and kill a black person himself only to have something to work with...

That pretty much excludes any idea of a struggle or a threatening thrust. If you think about how you open a door while holding a shotgun then accidentally "bumping" would not result in a head shot. Also a warning shot over her head from inside a house is impossible, aim for the head you hit the head. It was not an unfortunate accident.
A lot of milage will be made out of her being three times over the legal limit and there being traces of weed in her system - three times is 4-5 drinks for a young woman, that is not paraletic drunk, it is not fighting drunk, it is drunk, but giggly stupid drunk and is no doubt the reason she crashed her car.

^If the situation was like that, then he should be treated as a murderer.

Read an article in Time a few days ago about the Deep Web........a link to the story and a PBS bit on it
.I knew there were all kinds of illegal activity via various groups on the web but didn't know there was an actual web underground that was created by the gubbermint and a program, TOR, to gain access.

^Hey I like porn!
On an interesting note: Imagine Miley Cyrus winning the Time Person of the Year! I know it's a part of the propaganda apparatus, but it'd make the press seem more like a joke!!! |

Yeah, it wasn't even funny years ago when hackers made "moot" the most influential person of the year on that Time poll.
Can't Miley Cyrus just leave us alone anyway? Like, entirely? I'm fairly sick of hearing about her... good, bad or ugly :( |

^It can't be denied though that naming Miley Cyrus "person of the year" would be a sad but accurate reflection of the brain activity levels that are being achieved nowadays.

As T points out she deserves to be person of the year, right in step w/ the present American mentality. Let's get it over with so we can move on to the next fiasco.
Here is a little stupid test I did. I typed in Miley Cyrus and the 1st thing which popped in my head which was toothbrush. Lo and behold there is a singing Miley Cyrus toothbrush. I am off to google Miley cyrus sandwich bags next. Edited by timothy leary - November 30 2013 at 14:39 |
