Hi progarchives dot com forward slash forum!

Im Rob or Gordonbombay, im 19 years of age and from London (the one in England). Been listening to prog for 2 years. My first prog purchase was "Fear Of A Blank Planet" the week after it came out as it had been recomended to me on last.fm. My most recent purchase was Dream Theater "Awake" (it was on sale on amazon for £3 ;p). I Still buy CD's and have quite the impressive collection (one day i'll post pics). I dont only listen to prog, im also a huge fan of experimental dance music and electronic music more commonly refered to as "IDM" im also a fan of hip hop and rap amongst other things.

You can find out more about my music listening habits by clicking here.

You can help reccomend me music based on what i listen to by clicking here.

Smile

Welcome to PA!  The name Gordon Bombay sounded familiar to me, but I can't place where I have heard it before.  A quick Google search brought up the Disney Movies The Mighty Ducks and Emilio Estevez's character as the hockey coach/attorney.  I don't suppose that that has anything to do with your choice in user name.  Your list of artists in the other thread are in line with many bands that I enjoy under the progressive umbrella.  I can't say that I have any interest in IDM or hip hop and rap however.  Hopefully, our colleagues will come up with some good recommendations for you.

Haha.  I remember really enjoying the first Mighty Duck movie, with the next two being OK.  Are you a hockey fan as well, or just a fan of those movies?

Which is why I was surprised that you liked the movies?  I used to be a fan of the minor league hockey team the Detroit Vipers, and after they disbanded, a couple of the players went on to play in England for the London Knights, who played in the BISL there in England.  I imagined that this league is probably virtually unknown, but I figured that it was still possible that their could be some hockey fans there.LOL

There are quite some hockey fans in Europe, but in Sweden and the Scandinavian countries, the Czech Republic (I think it's the most popular sport there), Russia, the Baltic countries, Hungary, etc. Not England Tongue

Yep, my home team, the Detroit Red Wings, had 5 or 6 Swedes and a couple of Russians on the team last year.  I think that Germany used to have a decent league too (it might still exist).   A lot of former Detroit Vipers went to play in the German league too.  Generally, I associate England with football, aka Bend It Like Beckham, and Cricket.
