    Posted: November 23 2009 at 12:24
This Friday, November 27, 2009, for 24 hours (Pacific Standard Time), ProgRock Records will be marking down almost everything to $5 for a single CD and $10 for a double.  This will not include any Think Tank Media releases (Lana Lane, Erik Norlander, Rocket Scientists) or books or special autographed editions or the PRR Club, or a handful of other releases we're working out at the moment.*  This still leaves a selection of about 100 releases to choose from

A quick way to navigate the page is by going to http://www.progrockrecords.com/artist_index/

With the weakness of the dollar, this is an even better deal for our international friends, for example, you can get 10 CD's for just 33 euro, or 30 pounds.  Shipping costs vary depending on what service you select, but the range of services available are presented to you at check out and you can choose the ones you want.

* subject to availability, first come first served.

Shawn Gordon

Thanks Shawn.  I was like a kid in a candy store.  Too much delicious looking music.  That spending spree should end our nation's depression. LOL

oooh.Smile

Can someone suggest me a top 5 albums to get from that list. Perhaps something new and exciting?

I know Sylvan and am thinking about getting one or two from them...Maybe Amaran's Plight too, but I dunno most of the rest.

I've been kinda out of the new prog bands loop for awhile....

one of my personal favorites is Invisigoth, very unique stuff.  Really depends on your tastes though, the Steve Walsh solo album is fantastic.  If you can throw out some genres or bands that you're looking towards I can probably make some suggestions, there are audio samples on each page as well.  Oh, another really fresh one is Seven Steps to the Green Door.

I liked the Echoes and Aquaria samples a lot.

I'm really into a lot of stuff--Neo, Symph, Metal, Avant. I'd actually like something unlike Sylvan, as I find a lot of Neo to be hit or miss, much as I love it, and it's iffy to impulse buy something like that. If there's anything intensely compelling, though, I'd be willing to listen.

Made my order (didn't expect to order so many cd's, but this is a great opportunity).

check out the samples for Invisigoth and Seven Steps then, given what you described, I think you would like the freshness of it.  Votum and Sandstone might also appeal, and this new Dead heroes Club is getting a lot of positive reaction.  Oh, Jupiter Society, big, heavy, epic.

If you're interested in any of the albums I also played on, there is Frameshift "Unweaving the Rainbow", Amaran's Plight, Project Creation "Dawn on Pyther", Factory of Dreams "A Strange Utopia", and I contributed to Frameshift "An Absense of Empathy" and Henning Pauly "Credit Where Credit is Due" :)

Personally I'd recommend Jupiter Society and Seven Steps to the Green Door - quality acts through and through in my opinion. Of the artists mentioned those would have ben my top picks.

If Zen Rock and Roll and Aaron English should still be available those are others I'd give the thumbs up. The former charming in a vintage Genesis sort of way, the latter a neat blend of world music and rock with a few jazzy touches with a Peter Gabriel atmosphere to it.

I got the albums by Aquaria and Echoes, as well as the Seven Step album, based largely on your review Windhawk. Wink

Hope you'll enjoy that one then - I know I did.

Would be interesting to know how accurate you find my description after giving it a couple of spins :-)
