SO HAPPY NEW YEAR
THE NAME:ESAGIL is explicitly characterized as the support and connection of the earthly horizon -- with the heavens. The shrine ESAGIL and the city Babylon are thus situated at the middle of the vertical cosmic axis, and connect the heavens to the earthly- contemporary world. The temple ESAGIL was regarded as the center of the world on the horizontal, earthly level as well.
Theodoros Kotzabourounis  (bass, vocals).Born in 1971. He has performed in various rock and heavy bands (Mortals Fate, Overdose, Mortesa, Rag Tag).
Michael Kostas (drums).Born in 1971. He has performed in jazz and rock bands (Blue Angels, Mortals Fate, B#, ΜΑΓΜΑ)
Bill Chatzigianis(guitars).Born in 1971.
ESAGIL is a prog  rock music band from Lesvos of Greece, an island in the Aegean Sea.
ESAGIL were formed in January of 1995 by Theodor Kotzabourounis (bass, vocals) and Michael Kostas (drums). Together they composed their first music themes which would be later, used in their complete compositions.
Finally, in April of 1996, Bill Kouzinoglou (guitar) & Bill Chatzigianis (guitar) enter the group.
After a period of “stretching” the relationship among the members of the group (musically and personally) , ESAGIL work on progressive rock material and music covers of   60s and 70s.
Soon they start the live performances and in July of 1997 they begin the recording of their songs. After one year they decided to release their first demo cd under the title “Reverse of Life”. This period Michael Kostas (drums) leaves the band.
In November of 2000 ESAGIL recorded the song “I saw a chapel”,  a William Blake's poem, with Stratis Altiparmakis as a session drummer.
In February of 2001 they recorded, their new instrumental song, “cover T.S.”(Cover of a Tony Smith bass groove) with their present drummer Chris Kountsouro.
The demo songs “I Saw A Chapel” and “cover T.S.” are taking place in the cd collection of the Heavy Metal fanzine “Homo Metallicus”(fifth issue).
For some reasons after some gigs the band broke up. During this period Theodor recorded his project demo cd single “Mortesa” with guitarist Petro Katoudi.
In May of 2004 Theodor and Michael decided to regroup the band with the first guitarist Bill Chatzigiannis. They played and composed two songs which are taking place in their new demo cd single “In square circles” and right after they disband.
