Are you joking?

Why? Can you explain why? Can you say it in actual musical or mathematical or scientific or any kind of FACTUAL terms that CAN'T be disputed?

Why yes I can.

Well not really no, I'm a hyperbole machine but I guess a more polite way of putting it is I REALLY hate Dream Theater, the singer in particular. Angry

I understand that everyone has the right to their opinion, in the same way people have the right to think Nickelback are a better band than The Beatles but that doesn't mean I can't laugh at the idea.

You see... you can't even understand the value of debate and you come here asking for answers...

Well, the fact is that Labrie sings while Wilson speaks nice and soft near the mic... when he doesn't reaches more options for his songs he uses effects or plain boring phrases in a very depressive way... that's why Labrie is way more better...

you want more reasons...? guess what? how many contributions has Labrie done and been ask to work with...? while Wilson is invited when he is the producer or the arranger or he is involved with the compossition... he is not a hired for anyone who wants a good singer... while Labrie does it all the time, you know what? because he is a singer...

Now, we are not discussing the quality of the musicians, of course Wilson is a songwriter and Labrie doesn't... but as a singer... Labrie is a lot better... as easy as that...

The lession here is that sometimes less is more, Wilson may not  have a technically impressive voice but it suits the music perfectly while Labrie has the most irritating voice of any rock band I can think of that isn't from the Chad Kroeger school of whiny throat cancer vocals, I don't like DT anyway, not even for the instrumentals (which are bland beyond belief) but Labrie makes it pretty unbearable.

So...because you don't like LaBrie...you're saying everybody who DID vote LaBrie must be joking...

Maybe you need a lesson on opinions.

Anyways, no vote. They are two of my favourite singers out there and it would pain me to vote against either of them.

As a singer, 1000 times for Labrie, who can sing melodies much better than Wilson, who in general is a better singer than Wilson. Obviously, as a musician, Wilson has the advantage, since he's an instrumentalist, writer and arranger (and producer).

What, just because Wilson hasn't taken singing lessons (and maybe he has, I don't know), he's not a singer?  What about the countless wonderful untrained guitarists and musicians (of which there are many of on this site)? Are they not musicians because they haven't taken lessons? I'm not sure what that statement meant...Confused

Clearly, LaBrie is easily the best technically.  However, SW's voice is just perfect for PT.

If there's been a better case of fence-sitting recently, I'm yet to see it Wink.

Wilson wins for me. His singing, songwriting, and musicianship are all great, IMO. I sometimes think I'm listening to a different band to other people.

I actually think Labrie is pretty great when he puts his mind to it. When he's good, he's very good. He needs to know when to hold back sometimes, but in general he's a very talented singer.
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...

I prefer the sound of Wilson's voice, but LaBrie is technically the more gifted singer.

Steven Wilson has a very "90s" voice, almost Alternative in a way.

JLB has a very "80s" voice, almost torture in a way.

Steven it is. Tongue

I picked LaBrie, cause I believe he has better range than Steve. Maybe Steve does, but it never comes out on his recordings......A lot of his vocals are in a small pitch range..But it works for PT style of music.
But do you like LaBrie more?.. or do you think he has more skill than Wilson?  The poll is based on preference, not skill.
