Is this a joke? Because I would like to know who thought this was something to joke about, and why they thought it was appropriate to post it on the forum?!

This is serious stuff. It's understandable if you can't really identify with any of the apostles; they were the chosen few; but if you honestly can't (or refuse to) say that you are a disciple for God, then something needs to change.

Don't joke about the way people live their lives. This stuff is important. It matters.

Yeah well "lol" all you want. It doesn't change the seriousness of the matter.

Where's Paul?

He was an apostle. You missed putting him in.

He was also (obviously) a Beatle. As was John.

George and Ringo weren't common names in 5BC.

Ringo the 13th disciple - the purveyor of rhythmic truth.

the question was about the disciples of Jesus, and Paul was not one of them.

it is my honest opinion, by the way, that Paul greatly misunderstood Jesus, and many of the things he said have nothing whatever to do with what Jesus said. I sincerely doubt "mulier taceat in ecclesia" (or the Hebrew equivalent of it) could ever have come out of Jesus' mouth. Paul despised women, Jesus did not.

the 2nd-grade recognition of women in the catholic church are chiefly because of Paul's misogyny

Actually, Jean, I would argue that was more to do with Augustine.

John, apparently the only one who hadn't a violent death. I like peaceful people.

Augustine certainly helped with it, but the foundation was laid by Paul. without him Augustine would have had no ground to stand on

The quiz came up Thomas for me.  But with all of my peeping me eyes do not see him in the list.  So the I like Judas Priest response would be more in line with my thinking.

As a lapsed Catholic, I have to take you to task on stating that Paul was not a disciple. He certainly was one of the 12 apostles....I was very good at my catechism as a child! Have a look at Wikipedia under "Paul the apostle".

Go back to your catechism.

Paul was, indeed, an Apostle. He was not, however , one of the twelve disciples. He never met Jesus during the Ministry. Instead, the risen Lord appeared to him and put him on the path of spreading the word.
