Canterbury Scene: National Health Of Queues and Cures
Crossover Prog: Singularity Of All The Mysteries
Eclectic Prog: Il Berlione Il Berlione
Experimental/Post Metal: Anathema We're Here Because We're Here
Heavy Prog: Anekdoten Nucleus
Jazz Rock/Fusion: Brand X Unorthodox Behaviour
Krautrock: Amon Düül II Yeti
Neo-Prog: Pendragon Pure
Post Rock/Math Rock: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
Prog Folk: Gryphon Red Queen to Gryphon Three
Progressive Electronic: Tangerine Dream Phaedra
Progressive Metal: Dream Theater Images and Words
Psychedelic/Space Rock: Ozric Tentacles Erpland
RIO/Avant-Prog: Present Le Poison Qui Rend Fou
Rock Progressivo Italiano: Premiata Forneria Marconi Per Un Amico
Symphonic: Discipline Unfolded Like Staircase
Tech/Extreme Prog Metal: Voivod Nothingface
Zeuhl: Happy Family Toscco

Don't know any Indo/Raga.

Personally, while we're on the subject, I think that the "scene" genres should not exist as independent genres here, but rather as perhaps sub-genres of other genres.  I mean, Indo/Raga?  Really?  And Canterbury?  The bands are all so different they wouldn't even end up in the same genre otherwise.  Krautrock is just a type of Psyche, is it not?  And Zeuhl is a form of Avant (RIO need not exist either).  And of course most Neo-prog is just a form of Symphonic!  Probably RPI is as well, for the most part.

Terrific list

i like the sound of

Crossover Prog: Singularity Of All The Mysteries
Eclectic Prog: Il Berlione Il Berlione
Zeuhl: Happy Family Toscco

Those scene genres were painstakingly chosen and if any are removed a lot of tea collabs will be a little grumpy.. seriously they are a good indication of what to expect for the artists in each.

today i listened to another RIO album, Henry Cow, IPOL, and once again it was challenging but it has its place.

Thanks.  Funny thing is, I think that Singularity should be in Symphonic, not Crossover.  But since it is where it is, I decided to pick it!
Kind of same thing with Happy Family.  Should be in Heavy Prog; or maybe Avant.  But since it is where it is...!

For Eclectic and Symphonic I decided not to go with one of the obvious bands from the 70s.  Just to be different?  Maybe!

As for the scene genres, I don't have any expectation that they'll be merged.  Just making a bit of conversation!

Gotta love the amount of Frances love some people have here. Only reason i listed Deloused instead of Frances is because it's the album that started it all.

Just a little story about this cd, by Volaré. I was listening in the 90's to this cd at my father's home and let it there in the cd player. And when this cd player went broken, my father put it in the garbage without knowing that the cd was still in it. He made me a cheque for compensation, so i have bought this cd twice.

Glad to see all the love for Cardiacs in RIO/Avant (even though I didn't pick them myself this time, they were close...any of you who voted for Sing to God, if you haven't heard A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window, give it a listen).

Sticking with ones in PA categories, and without worrying about how well the albums fit their category, but simply basing it on my tastes.

Canterbury Scene: John Greaves et al - Kew Rhone

Crossover Prog: The Advancement - The Advancement

Eclectic Prog: Jean-Claude Vannier - L'enfant assassin des mouches

Experimental/Post Metal: Maudlin of the Well - Leaving Your Body Map (but I have limited experience with this category)

Heavy Prog: High Tide - Sea Shanties

Indo Prog/Raga: Clivage - Mixtus Orbis

Jazz Fusion: Herbie Hancock - Crossings

Krautrock: Yatha Sidhra - A Meditation Mass

Neo Prog: Marc Ceccotti - Sometimes Around Saturn (I haven't heard many full albums from this category as most of what I have heard is not my cup of tea, but SAS is an album that I find enjoyable)

Post/ Math Rock: Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die

Prog Folk: Comus - First Utterance

Prog Electronic: Igor Wakhevitch - Logos

Prog Metal: Diablo Swing Orchestra - Swing Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious (but I have very limited full-album experience with this category)

Psych Space: Fifty Foot Hose - Cauldron

RIO/ Avant: Art Zoyd - Generation Sans Futur

RPI: Area - Caution Radiation Area

Symphonic: Clearlight - Clearlight Symphony

Tech/Extreme Metal: undecided and limited experience with the category since my preferences commonly run towards the pastoral.

Zeuhl: Magma - Kobaia

Various: Zodiac - Cosmic Sounds

Prog Related: Gerard Manset - La mort d'Orion

Proto Prog: The United States of America - The United States of America

Fortunately someone picked Caution Radiation Area :D but I just didn't feel like picking it because it absolutely isn't representative of the RPI genre (sounds like RIO to me)

Very good album.  If I had added several albums that I've considred adding to that cartegory, my choice would have been different though.

I decided not to worry about how well an album fits its category when making my list.  CRA is a RIO/Avant category oriented album to my ears too, and I  love the RIO/Avant category.  I wouldn't have chosen a few albums on my list if I'd worried about how representative they are.  For instance, Wakhevitch's Logos is more of an "avant" album, and Manset's La mort d'Orion is more of an Eclectic category album than Prog Related, and I don't think that Neo Prog album i chose very representative of its category, which is probably why I enjoy it.

Oh, it was YOU guys!!   I couldn't remember who my accomplices were in lobbying for Vashti......but our day has finally arrived.  Big smile

My thanks to the prog-folk boys who made the call.....it was not my call, I just reminded Hugues about her.

Now if I could just convince someone that we should also be able to review Blue, Hissing of Summer Lawns, Hejeira, and Don Juan's Reckless Daughter on this site....Vashti is great but it's remarkable that Diamond Day , a wonderful little folkie album, flies here while JM has like dozens of albums just as remarkable, more complex, and site-worthy.
