August 2020 New Release Report: This time, I want to try something new. To help encourage everyone to listen to the new releases and to possibly write more reviews, I want to add links (where possible) to each release where you can listen and/or purchase the music. The link will take you right to the band’s YouTube, Bandcamp, Spotify, etc. page so you can preview the album. This takes a lot of time to put together, so let me know what you think. If it isn't a useful tool to have direct access to the music site, then I would rather not spend time on it in the future. However, if it is useful, then I will continue to include it in the report. Fortunately, this is a shorther list than normal this month and that's good, but in the future, if this feature continues, it might mean that the list will be a few days late. In the meantime, here is the list of new releases for August 2020. EDIT: The Spotify links are not working correctly for some reason. I think you might have to sign up for a free membership or be logged in to be able to access the full albums. I was able to get them to work if I right-clicked on the link below and selected "copy link" from the list, then pasted it into the Spotify search bar. When you do this, you get a pull down list. Select the link that is in bold type. Hopefully that will work. If not, unless someone has some pointers as to why this doesn't work, we might not be able to have Spotify links on here. Updated rushfan4 has created a thread that is a companion to this page where you can join in on the discussion of the new releases for August 2020 and you can also post a youtube video of your favorite track from any of the above new releases. You can also hear music from the bands that other members have posted. This is a great way to get to know the new music. ------------- To see the new release reports for the past months in 2020, please click the links below: Edited by TCat - January 03 2021 at 18:51 |

"Whoosh" by Deep Purple intrigues me the most!

Good work!
I have to wonder if we really need another ELP collection though.

Ay! But it is the "Ultimate" ELP collection...so it surpasses all other. It says so in its name.

Fantastic work, Mike! There were a few albums I meant to check out but forgot and it's much easier with the links, not to mention that the artists (at least on Bandcamp) will be aware of this thread thanks to them.

it is dirt cheap on Amazon at £6.99 for 3 CD's. It's mostly the classic stuff and for the first time includes all of Emerson's Piano Concerto *. However the inclusion of the worst track off Love Beach (A Taste of My Love) is very bizarre indeed * edit - I am assuming this from the PA listing as Amazon doesn't include the track listing

Maybe it isn't necessary, but I have created a companion thread where we can discuss these new releases and provide our recommendations for some of these new albums. Either just discussing new releases that we have heard or liked or maybe didn't like, and possibly posting sample YouTube videos or links to highlight songs to share. If there are enough songs highlighted, I might create a poll just for the fun of it for people to choose their favorite songs from the new releases.

^Thank you Scott. This is an excellent idea that you have come up with. I encourage everyone to check out this thread, share your favorites from the list of new releases and join in the discussion. There is a link that I have put into the original post above where is says "Join in the discussion...."
