Progressive Biography

I was born too many years ago to think about, but not enough to have gained any wisdom whatsoever - Oh, OK then, 24th July 1963 (yes, yes, I'm over 40)

Prog rock first entered my conciousness in about 1973, when a neighbour sold me 'The Best Of...' Uriah Heep for £1.00; I loved it, but never followed it up until after a hiatus flirting with punk, I asked my brother in law if he had any 'heavy' albums - he lent me "Dark Side", and "Genesis Live" - I never looked back.

Our music collection now contains in excess of 700 CD's and approx 300 vinyl albums, covering music as diverse as Mozart to Motorhead, King Oliver to King Crimson, Grand Opera to Grand Funk Railroad..... you get the picture.

If I had to name my 5 favorite prog artists, they would go - in no particular order - as follows (although, bear in mind, if I were to re-compile the list in a few days, it would probably be different)

1 - Pink Floyd
2 - Pre 1975 Genesis
3 - Jethro Tull
4 - Camel
5 - ELP

As far as favorite albums are concerned, again, this list would change on an almost daily basis, but as for today - here you go.....

1 - VDGG 'Pawn Hearts'
2 - Genesis 'Nursery Cryme'
3 - Jethro Tull 'Thick As A Brick'
4 - Pink Floyd 'Animals'
5 - ELP 'Welcome Back My Friends.....'

A couple of final details - I'm happily married, live in North Hertfordshire (about 20 miles north of London), no children yet, but plenty of pets of the furred and scaly variety
