4 stars OK I'll admin it, I got back into Maiden because of my teenage son, but when I was his age, and a great fan of this band, I missed all the prog elements in their music, because I was not aware of them. Now I can easily identify it. There are plenty of progressive tendencies in this band, they themselves have admitted to listening to Genesis and Jethro Tull. And it is plenty clear on this album. Not a perfect album, but a good one, with some metal masterpieces. Alexander the Great in particular has an symphonic prog style instrumental section, stretching the song over 8 minutes. It is packed will all the prog devices in the book, including a little nod to Genesis from the Lamb album. Wow! Heaven Can Wait is another highlight, with an instrumental section far more advanced than your average metal guitar solo. It's tight, melodic and sophisticated, with the harmonized guitars creating a great ambience. Deja Vu and the title tracK are classic rockers which just sweep you along... Anyway there is no shortage of epic, majestic and bombastic material here, and one can forgive a couple of "generic" fillers.
