4 stars Steve Roach, as I have mentioned somewhere in PA, came to a level of development, in his self-constructed language, that makes it almost impossible to rate him beyond his own discography. Maybe his very early works still had this "characteristic". "FUTURE FLOWS" a 2013 release, makes it easier (or friendlier if you wish) for "newcomers", at least as to the timing of the songs go, which are short, in comparisson to his hour+ long efforts. Additionally, the songs are rich in character, and independent of each other. Dynamic SLOW paced music, which now I know, is not for every Prog audiophile, less those who crave for espectacular pirouettes and tons of spotlights.

It will be hard to focus otherwise, but to the Progressive/Electronic crowd, that understands the wide spectrum this sub-genre offers and has gone through since its inclusion in PA. Roach's music has always had the focus on the "aural" experience, humans go through when music as a whole becomes an integral part of their daily human "environments". Opposed to creating something that you will treasure and "experience" 5 times in your whole life. He has worked on this "ambiental" expressions, as far as I remember.

A self impossed quest, far beyond the "mainstream" markets and audiences, that has brought its best after years of work and experience. This instrumental "Future Flows" does not hide any of his findings, in fact it could turn out to be one of his most "universal" works even beyond the "realms" of Prog".

So...if you follow this sub-genre, or even better, if you listen to music in general just for "knowledge", this work is a ****4.5 PA stars kind of project.
