4 stars Private Parts & Pieces III meets Private Parts & Pieces VII, and the result is Private Parts & Pieces IX. Indeed, just mix Antiques (purely guitar, Enrique Berro Garcia participates) with Slow Waves, Soft Stars (mostly electronic), and you'll get Dragonfly Dreams (guitar plus electronic, Enrique Berro Garcia participates). All the tracks are nice and enjoyable, but only a couple of them can be considered genuine instrumental pieces. Most are just etudes, sketches. And only a few tracks contain new musical ideas (Night Song should be mentioned first), others are self-repetitive. But all demonstrate the artist's constantly growing skill, both as composer and player. What sounded raw and bashful in 1978 due to lack of experience sounds assertive and convincing in 1996. And what brought awkwardness and lack of coziness to the listener on Private Parts & Pieces I, brings joy, pleasure and comfort on Dragonfly Dreams. A good music is really good only if and when it's well done, sorry for a chestnut. Undoubted highlights are Under The Ice, She'll Be Waiting (the only track with vocals - and this time Phillips performed a very good vocals!), Night Song and Old Faithful.
