DOES THE COSMIC SHEPHERD DREAM OF ELECTRIC TAPIRS?

This album was a disappointment to me after the wonderful trip of "La Nòvia. The record starts promisingly with ethereal soundscapes, but after few moments all of the players just start to smash their instruments without any evident mutual direction or aim for harmonies, and the mess of irritating sound continues persistently. On the second track the action gets better in a form of an acoustic ballad resembling Syd Barrett's era Pink Floyd. On the third track the acoustic approach on music continues, but this song gets ruined by in my opinion annoying joke vocals and really distasteful guitar work. It seems like the musicians want just to express how confused they are, instead of creating sincere psychedelic musical experience, or then it's also possible that I'm just tuned to very different levels as a listener than they are as players. The twenty-five minutes long "Dark Star Blues" is also impossible for me to listen trough due the eighteen minutes long guitar solo resembling the technical style of average Slayer solo, that being just messing up some random notes and chords as fast as possible, without creating any harmonies, contrasts or ideas. In addition of the acoustic "Suzie Sixteen Listen" the only track here which pleased me was the last one, "Transmigration of Hop Heads" being nearly eventless wall of sound for eighteen minutes.

Despite this the weird experience offered by this album I'll keep checking out some other of their albums, as it's possible that there are some very good moments to be found from there. It just seems that the band has released every single jam session which they have had, creating an ocean of material from where the listeners should try to hunt the good clips, as the band haven't decide to have a self-critic in their quality control - A potential documentary choice which can't be claimed as wrong either.
