4 stars Post progressive electronic sound + ambient + noise and shoegaze.

Aidan Baker is a Canadian electronic musician which happens to be also a guitar player. His approach to music is mostly experimental, although the results are well structured. "Butterfly Bones" the album I have chosen to put him on the map in the so popular PA Prog/electronic sub-genre, is one of his "tightest" efforts as a whole. From the very beginning you will notice that his "universe" is quiet unique as far as musical language goes.

The charms this project holds are displayed without any kind of meausures that could behold the experimental nature of the music, but simultaneously the experimental side, does not interfere with its song writing.

Dirty environments, crossed with straight forward melodic lines, encompassing a wide structure of voices, choruses, some distant "drum boxes" and "native" percussions here and there, with brushes of clean or very dirty, electric guitar riffs and flowing synths either depicting "glowing" melodic lines, as the "noise-like atmospheres". The songs themselves are inviting and hypnotic, due to the unorthodox beauty of the compositions. And as always the best is its inherent unique musical language.

Maybe Post/Rock followers besides the "Electronics", will appreciate this "new-comer" in PA. As far as me, I have been following him for a while and "Butterfly Bones" is a great way to start knowing him and a keeper.

****4 PA stars, do not miss!
