5 stars Why is this album so maligned? You tell me. I think it's a great album and I prefer it to "Made In Japan" . THAT'S RIGHT, I PREFER IT TO "MADE IN JAPAN". Here's why:

1. The sound quality, it's a superb, crisp dynamic recording mixed by Roger Glover on an SSL desk. Turn it up, you are there.

2. The band are having FUN. So nice to hear/feel that when you realise the nastiness of '93.

3. Most importantly the performances. "Highway Star" is outstanding, tight and bang on, with a new precision. "Strange Kind Of Woman" with it's detour into "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Perfect Strangers", "Knocking At Your Back Door", "Black Night", "Smoke on The Water","Hush", they all sound great to me, crisp and new, a great replacement to classic versions we all love. As for the accusation that some solos were overdubbed: who cares? It just makes it a fabulous album that I never tire of listening to.
