4 stars This is the best album from Blackmore's night.

Great opening for the first song. Its a folk/pop song with an interesting synth line in it and some catchy vocals. Also a nice guitar solo towards the end.

The next few songs just get better and better, until the last few songs that is. The last 3 or 4 songs drop down a bit in quality making it seem like they needed to fill more space in the album with a Jethro Tull cover. And then it went downhill from there.

I want to make it known that women should not cover any songs that were sung by someone with a rough, somewhat gravelly voice. It just doesn't translate well in the cover version. You expect Ian Anderson's voice and hear this delicate little voice. It doesn't go at all. The other cover, Diamonds and Rust, on the other hand, is wonderful. Even better than the origonal Joan Baez version.

Other than the Rainbow Blues mishap on this album, the rest is quite good. The first 11 songs are amazingly good. I really started to enjoy the band when I heard this album. Before, I wasn't so sure about the idea of Ritchie Blackmore in a folk band. But he has made a very good folk band in a time when folk is dead.

If you have never heard Blackmore's Night, I would reccomend starting with this album. If your a fan of folk, you shouldn't miss this album. For Ritchie Blackmore fans, I would also recommend it, but I have to warn that the guitar work is almost entirely acoustic, and the soloing is very sparse on the album. It is used in moderation, but its still extremely good.
