3 stars This is definitively NOT the best Ange compilation available. There are of course several great Ange songs available on their studio albums, as well as some very good songs.

True Ange prehistory is featured here with "Les Vieux Livres" and "Carnaval". These songs were never released before and really belong to the very early Ange repertoire. Two additional unknown songs (at the time) are also well worth. The English version of "Le Soir Du Diable" called "The Night Of The Devil" which will be released on the English version of the album "Par Les Fils De Mandrin" - : "By The Sons Of Mandrin" and "Un Jésus Cloué Main En Calvaire Véritable". This is the best one of all. It should have sit on Ange last great album : "Guet-Apens" (five stars in my rating) but couldn't make it. Again, we get sulfurous and anti-catholic lyrics here as Ange has provided during their first decade.

Another good one is "Des Yeux Couleur d'Enfants" from "Mandrin" again. Two good songs as well from "Le Cimetière Des Arlequins". Not the best ones, but still "Aujourd'hui C'Est la Fête de l'Apprenti Sorcier" and "La Route aux Cyprès" rank amongst the very best of this album.

"Sur La Trace Des Fées" from "Emile" and "Fils de Lumière" from "Au-Delà Du Délire" are plausible choices bearing in mind that several song from those albums were already featured on previous compilations. No problem here.

Things only get worse from "Vu D'Un Chien" through "Shéhérazade". Poor songs from Ange eighties repertoire (and believe me, it was EXTREMELY poor. How they made a compilation, is rather a mistery for me. This mistake (or blunder should I say) is corrected by the last two numbers which were chosen from "Les Larmes Du Daï Lama". Not the best Ange album of course, but at least it broke with the infamy of the eighties.

Let's be honest : so far I couldn't really be pleased with any Ange compilations. This one is no exception but still : I will rate it with three stars although five out of ten would be more appropriate.
