2 stars I stayed very curious about the work of the South-African band CANAMMI, first because I can't remember of much progressive rock bands originals from this country ( in fact at this moment I don't remember none) and second due the year of album release 1980 for some people "The Dark Ages" of progressive-rock. Although I can cite some good works from this era, as for instance ANYONE'S DAUGHTER's "Adonis" from 1979 and "In Blau" from 1982, GROBSCHINNIT's "Merry-go-round" from 1979, RUSH's " Permanent Waves" from 1980 and "Mooving Pictures" from 1981 and MARILLION's "Script for jester tears" from 1983 etc... However, the album in question if isn't a great deception... sincerely I not liked much ! The music seems to me a very poor combination from Vangelis meet Renaissance and Santana percussion style and some pop rhythm passages. This can be easily noted on the track 3 "Spiral", hear the percussion, the synthesizer. I think which the musicians are capable to make something better but, at this time I can't detach anything except the album cover. My rate is only 2 stars !!!
