3 stars Outdated synth sounds rescued by clever songwriting!

Yes! Outdated and more than once (unintentionally, I suppose) straight forward cheap, I mean, by then, 1983 the year of this release, synths were quiet more developed and not only that, all the synth cliches (drum boxes included in some songs yet pulses in none), that went around up to that year, parade in shamelessly in this Rudiger Lorenz "Invisible Voices" album.

But that did not stop Mr. Lorenz from delivering some excellent, more than once, melodical highlights, some really good "hooks", truly hypnotic moments and clever 80's prog-electronic songwriting all around.

So prepare yourself for a strong rewind, synth sound wise, and be charmed by its attractive riffs, intelligent disposition of songs and some very delightful compositions.

If not all songs are "gems", the weaker ones are still interesting enough. The less is more equation works wonders when you understand it instrument wise but not creatively wise and Mr. Lorenz understood that perfectly.

Rich in musical ideas, kind of overshadowed by its sound engineering limitations, nevertheless it will easily rate in the ***3 PA stars rulings and half a point more for overcoming those time-space technological disavantages .
