4 stars PIKE 187 - FORGOTTEN EXPERIMENT is the 86th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and the 12th installment in the countdown to HALLOWEEN. This is yet another dark ambient experimental creepathon that was created to bring chills up your spine and summon the demons in your soul. All sounds created by the BUCKETHEADed one and like almost all the PIKES clocks in around the half hour mark at 29:42. All tracks are titled "Forgotten Experiment" and there are 8 parts. All the tracks seamlessly blend together so in effect this is one blind folded ride through the haunted house where you hope nothing scary is gonna grab you and suck you into a vortex and eat you.

This one starts out sounding more like an ambient Steve Roach album or something fairly normal with a synthesized drone but then some deeper rippling kinds of sound emerge from the background. A higher registered synthesized organ sound starts to play for a bit with all kinds of sounds trickling on and off of the musical stage. The organ actually does have a traditional kind of "Dracula's castle" type of feel to it even though it doesn't sound like the traditional church organ. It goes on and on slowly and then has a little spastic burst of energy. Well, then all hell breaks loose and all kinds of sounds come and go and create weirdness. There is also a synthesized wind howl that evolves as well. This one is pretty cool and VERY effective in the HALLOWEEN department.

As this one continues it gets more intense with heavier industrial sounds, creaks and blips and bleeps and then suddenly some springy thing. Well, you get the gist about now. This is a wild and unpredictable parade of random sounds that coalesce into a strange and foreboding horror soundtrack but at times it has a goofy kinda feel as well. Any way you slice it, this is another really good HALLOWEEN PIKE that keeps me listening! And we still have so many days to go!
