3 stars PIKE 205 - 2 DAYS TIL HALLOWEEN: COLD FROST is the 104th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and the 30th in the countdown to HALLOWEEN and another dark ambient totally crazy spooked out soundtrack to scare people. All instrumental like the rest and exclusively performed by BUCKETHEAD. This one clocks in at 31:03 and has 7 tracks titled "Cold Frost." The tracks all run together for one seamless spookathon, so in effect they serve no purpose at all to be separated except to look good written down i suppose.

Initially this one sounds like it picks up where the last one left off. It is dark ambient with a deeper background sound with a higher group of reverberating sounds up front. Not very musical and more ambient sounds but the bass background does become rhythmic in an industrial march sounding way while the higher sounds swarm around it dropping in and out. The sounds do match the album cover feeling icy and detached in a frozen void lonely and petrified. The album continues on in this fashion with some variations of the theme with different noises doing different things but it's all fairly random and designed to be a major depressant i guess.

This one is very much a soundtrack for the Twilight Zone. It is dark, ambient, icy and has just enough repetition and rhythmic developments to keep me from spacing out totally. Another decent HALLOWEEN countdown but not exactly my fave either. OK enough of this countdown let's get to the real HALLOWEEN deal already which leads to wonder why no 1 DAY TIL HALLOWEEN exists as the next album is the HAPPY HALLOWEEN album itself. Now that is messing with my mind more than this music!
