Tricantropus - one of the pleasent surprises coming from Spain in last years, with 2 albums in their pockets so far. The better from the two is for sure, the second offer El sueno de Arsinoe , issued at chilean Mylodon records in 2011. The music is more then ok, pleasent most of the time, a crossroad of diffrent styles , like symphonic prog , folk, jazzy interplays or even psychedelic parts are present here and there. The complexity of the passages are obvious on every pieces, even in those smoother and more calmer moments, very strong are the instrumental sections., just to be checked as reference the title track El Sueño De Arsinoe, also the opening, the rest are also great, some of the pieces are long , showing big potential and tight musicianship. The band might be similar with italians Castello di Atlante, or even with Azahar , a 70s prog delight quite connected with Tricantropus at multiple levels, musicaly and even in line up department. A nice, joyfull release who will be loved by prog fans. 3.5 stars.
