3 stars This is an interesting job of this chilean band, their second album, and a kind of symphonic prog with the experimentation as the mainstream. "Cuentos Para Dormir" is a relax album, based on the guitars, mainly clean guitars, but sometimes there are a couple of heavy riffs too. The presence of the synth in some particular moments gives a special atmosphere, which finally is the exclusive sound of Abrete Gandul. Although there are some KING CRIMSON influences, the overall sound is quite unique. The flute makes also his contribution on this result, with a sweet way of playing it, something completely opposite to Ian Anderson's.

The album is, more or less, balanced in quality, with no excellent moments, nor weak ones. Anyhow, I think 'Dr. Finger' and 'Hay que Volver a los Chinos' are the bests songs, and 'Al fin y al Cabo' should be placed in another site, because I don't like that beginning just after 'No Se Metan con el Capitán Problema'.

I give 3 stars to "Cuentos Para Dormir", a good instrumental album with a particular sound, based on the experimentation but without losing the aim of doing something structured from beginning to end.
