3 stars Peter Gabriel's So is easily one of my favorite poppy albums. Pete's voice is rich and mature on this album, and his vocals on songs like Red Rain and In Your Eyes are simply stunning. Much of the album is propelled by the african percussion working in tandem with choruses and the token eighties synths. Peter Gabriel is certainly an interesting and compelling musician.

Highlights on the album include Red Rain, which includes (as previously stated) an emotionally charged, stunning vocal performance by Peter Gabriel hardly topped by any other song on the album; Sledgehammer, a very fun song (if you haven't heard it yet, then go ahead and do so; your foot will be tapping in no time); Mercy Street which is simply a beautiful song in all of it's entirety; and We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37), which is a very strange and hypnotic song, which brings to mind George Orwell's 1984.

If one were to delve into Eighties music, this wouldn't be a bad place to begin.
