CRISI

(Exploit - CRISI 1972) is a Progressive underground album of the early seventies like so many other bands who had the opportunity to record an album for a small record label and then disappear and this happened for the band (Exploit).

The band formed by three elements; "Carlo Crivelli"(Hammond and piano,Voice),"Enzo Cutuli"(Bass guitar,Voice), "Aldo Pignanelli"(Drums and Percussion) recorded an album for the small Italian record label (CGO).

A very underground Prog album with two completely different sides; the first side presents a very good progressive three parts suite called "Crisi" where the first part is sung in English, the second part in Italian and the third in English.

The band (Exploit) is influenced by "Emerson Like & Palmer" and "Vanilla Fudge" but all with the classic melody,arrangements and atmosphere of the Italian Progressive rock of the early seventies that characterizes much this three parts suite.

Influenced by "ELP" in this three parts suite of total duration of twenty minutes and forty-one seconds the band (Exploit) shows out all their technical skill with a pompous Progressive dominated by Hammond organ with some Piano and harpsichord arrangements always with an excellent bass and drums with powerful dynamics and sound, with some moments even in Jazz and also good vocals with the typical Italian melody and vibrato.

The second side instead contains six Psychedelic ''prog'' rock tracks sung in Italian and that are not longer than four minutes and ten seconds and of influence "Vanilla Fudge" but always with an Italianate style.

These six tracks are quite short and in a more Psychedelic overview than Prog but always with the musical arrangements that are very well made and concentrated in their variations and that develop themselves in a few minutes with all its technical and always with good vibe.

Even if these six "B side" tracks are very well made stylistically with its italian trademark but these six tracks are too much anchored to the ideas of that Pychedelic, rock and melody of the late sixties for the year in which the album was released in (1972) and that do not follow the work begun with the Progressive three parts suite "Crisi".

It is possible that the group has performed at the mythical Festival of "Villa Pamphili" in Rome in May 1972 proposing the entire suite "Crisi", probably as one of the various support band and perhaps that their presence is not documented in reports of that period.

The album is very interesting especially for its diversity and for its style and originality and with very good musicians and it all makes this a good album.

(Exploit - CRISI) an album to have and to collect and to listen to several times before any comments.

Recommended for all lovers of the underground Progressive rock the early seventies.

Three and a half stars for this album and another half star for my taste (****).

(Exploit) one of the lesser-known bands of the panorama of the Italian Progressive rock of the seventies and the album (CRISI) probabely one of the most rare and Impossible to find records, the album was re-released recently on limited edition, from the original tapes from (SONOR music editions Rome,Italy 2016), that faithfully reproduces its graphics and the original label replication, 180g vinyl, a great and massive reissues on vinyl.
